Greenland

We are proud to announce that Backcountry Greenland has officially received its Tourism Provider License, a certification that confirms our status as a responsible, Greenlandic tourism company committed to high-quality experiences, sustainability, and safe operations.

Your Gateway to True Arctic Adventure

Backcountry Greenland is also an integral part of the local community, offering catering services and conference facilities, ensuring that businesses and groups can host professional gatherings while immersed in the unique Arctic surroundings. Our locally rooted dining experience, Spiseri, showcases the richness of Greenlandic ingredients and traditions, offering guests a taste of authentic Arctic cuisine.

With a strong focus on sustainability, adventure, and high-quality hospitality, Backcountry Greenland offers a seamless, all-encompassing experience, ensuring visitors connect with the true spirit of Greenland—with Sisimiut as the hub for their Arctic explorations.

Backcountry Greenland is a locally rooted Sisimiut-based company offering the full range of Arctic experiences – accommodations, outdoor adventures, dining, cultural encounters, and professional services such as catering and conference facilities. All deeply connected to Greenland’s raw and untouched nature. Sisimiut serves as the gateway to these experiences, providing the perfect starting point for unforgettable journeys into the wilderness.

Our guests can choose from a variety of unique accommodation options, including hotel stays in Sisimiut at Backcountry Hotel Sisimiut, the remote Kangia Lodge, exclusive luxury fly-fishing camps, and the wilderness retreat of Erfalik Lodge.

Beyond accommodations, Backcountry Greenland provides guided adventures such as hiking, boat tours, snowmobile, and ATV tours, allowing guests to explore Greenland’s breathtaking landscapes, starting from Sisimiut and reaching deep into the backcountry and Greenland fiords. The company is also dedicated to preserving Greenlandic culture, particularly through Greenland Dog Adventure, an initiative committed to safeguarding the tradition of Greenlandic sled dogs.

The logo

A logo is more than just a visual marker – it tells a story and reflects the values at the core of our company. It conveys our perspective on the world, our approach to meeting people, and the experience we aim to provide

The triangular shapes in the logo symbolize both the mountains that rise as landmarks in the landscape and the places where people seek shelter and gather – from  wilderness camps to cabins and our hotel. The organic lines represent paths through the landscape, much like the rivers cutting through the backcountry and the trails we follow. The long, lower stroke represents the vast backcountry between Sisimiut and the Inland Ice, an area that not only defines our history and way of life but also serves as the foundation for the experiences we create for our guests.

Here, we find not only our resources but also our inspiration. Nature is an active part of what we offer, whether through flavors rooted in local ingredients, meetings and conferences with time to think, or expeditions where silence, vastness, and landscapes create unforgettable moments that linger long after returning home.

The logo is a visual reminder of all this – a tribute to the past, a commitment to the present, and a responsibility for the future.
