Assaqutaq trail transfer

Embark on an exciting one-way hike with boat transfer to the starting location.

Start your adventure with a scenic boat transfer from Sisimiut to the breathtaking settlement of Assaqutaq. The settlement has been abandoned, and now functions partly as a summer camp for local school children.
When you arrive at the picturesque natural harbor, take a moment to explore the remains of this formerly inhabited village.

The trail begins at the eastern end of the settlement and crosses a suspension bridge before the hike back towards Sisimiut begins. The hike begins with a steep climb via metal stairs, but is quickly rewarded with great views of the fjord and the striking Nasaasaaq mountain range.

Along the way, you follow a marked route through the open landscape and pass, among other things, the old whaling station Qerrortusoq and a burial site, which provides an insight into the history and past life of the area.

The hike typically takes 5–6 hours and allows plenty of time to enjoy the nature, silence and views on the way back to Sisimiut.

Safety and Preparation:
Check the weather before you set off, prioritize safety, and bring any necessary personal equipment. In addition to sturdy footwear, be aware that the trail passes through varied terrain, which can be slippery. Additionally, the weather in Greenland can change quickly, so always be well prepared. A route brochure is available at reception, but it should not replace a proper map if you find one necessary.

Minimum participants:
Unless otherwise stated, the tour requires a minimum of 5 fully paying passengers to proceed. If the required number of passengers is not reached before departure and the tour has to be canceled, an alternative departure or a full refund of the amount paid will be offered.
