Discover the blend of tradition and modern life in Sisimiut, where history meets progress.
Inhabited for over 4,500 years, this area is rich in stories and traditions, yet has evolved rapidly over the last 250 years since the founding of Holsteinsborg.
Today, Sisimiut is Greenland’s second-largest town, where modern industry and education exist alongside traditional hunting practices.
On this guided bus tour, we’ll explore Sisimiut’s past and present, covering much of the town, including stops at dog town and the local meat and fish market. We’ll get on and off the bus multiple times for closer looks and photos, so bring a jacket, but no special gear is needed—this is an easy tour.
You’ll also visit Aanaa’s house and take a look inside a traditional Greenlandic home. Sip a refreshment as your guide shares stories of family life and customs.
